PURGATORY

My submission for Coursera's Game Design and Development course Capstone. A Turn-Based 2D Roguelike where you have to survive by gathering food and avoiding vampires.

Can you survive in Purgatory?

Play as Salvatto, a down-on-his-luck drifter who found himself in a wasteland filled with vampires! Lead Salvatto away from the vampires hell-bent on drinking his blood, scrounge for food in this dry wasteland, and maybe, Salvatto can survive this hellish ordeal!

Features:

  1. 2D aesthetics.
  2. Turn-based movement. The enemies will only move after the player moves.
  3. Survival. The player has to keep watch of how much food they have or they will starve and lose. The player also can’t attack enemies; they have to avoid and outsmart enemies.
  4. Endless game mode with randomly generated map for each level.
  5. Tile-based map to easily track movement and turns.
  6. Hardcore Mode featuring limited lighting.

Notes:

  • Main Menu not implemented as it is a "Yellow Light Feature". As well as About Page.
  • Hardcore Mode is a mode where the lighting is very limited. Examples can be seen on screenshot #3 and #4.
  • The mode playable in the browser is Normal Mode.
  • As I didn't have time to add a Pause Menu, please use Alt+F4 to close the game. Use Command+Q on Mac to close it.
  • WebGL might not be working correctly.
